At CATS we support PARENTS, as well as kids and adolescents!
At CATS we understand that family life with a child with ADHD often involves a delicate balance of understanding, patience, and adaptability! Supporting your child is a journey filled with love, joy, endless discoveries as well as frustrations, conflicts and challenges. We know that screen time can become a significant source of engagement for these children, providing instant stimulation and gratification. However, managing screen time becomes difficult for parents and a source of disagreement in the home. Your child’s boundless energy and need for movement can be seen as both an opportunity for adventure and a difficulty with sitting still for long periods. These children require frequent breaks and opportunities for physical activity to release excess energy. Emotionally, children with ADHD can be highly sensitive, their reactions often intense and quick to change. CATS can support family members to learn to navigate these emotional fluctuations with empathy and support, providing a safe and understanding environment where the child feels accepted and valued. We can also support with tools such as establishing routines, clear boundaries, and supporting weaker skills. Through Occupational Therapy we can promote life-long success, despite the challenges posed by ADHD.
