Activities of Daily Living
Dressing, toileting, eating, sleep and day to day functions.
An initial session is an opportunity to meet, build a relationship with your child, hear about the strengths and challenges, and to discuss goals and treatment plan. From that initial visit, you may choose to move forward with sessions focused on the following;

Assessment
If an assessment is your focus, we can discuss and make a plan to assess as needed. This may include fine motor, gross motor, sensory processing and/or social skills. It is important to note that, as Occupational Therapists, we can contribute a great deal of understanding and observation but we are unable to make any official diagnosis.

1:1 Treatment
As individual as your child is, therapy sessions are developed to incorporate your child’s interests while working through their challenges. Sessions are structured to be fun, challenging, rewarding, motivating and educational. It may look like “play” but our skilled therapists know how to incorporate “Just Right Challenges” to address and reach the collaborative goals established with you.

Parent Coaching
At Collaborative Approach Therapy Services we believe that parents are the captain of the team and we can act as your coach. You are the one in the game and you know your child best, but sometimes it can be helpful to have some perspective, additional knowledge and encouragement to play your best in the game. By better understanding your child, you gain a perspective that contributes to patience and creativity and gives you the tools required to feel empowered during challenging situations.
About Us
At Collaborative Approach Therapy Services (CATS) we believe in working as a team, with parents as the captain. We offer the supports and services that YOU want to receive; including 1:1 regularly scheduled treatment or short term consultation in clinic, home or community. We can offer guidance to understand which services are the best options for your family. We will take the time to understand your goals, needs, and barriers. We pride ourselves in being open, honest and flexible.
Just as your child is always changing and growing, your therapy program will change, grow and adapt with your collaboration.

Collaborative Approach Therapy Services offers a unique opportunity for independence and team collaboration. The ability to access other OTs in the field opens up a wealth of experience, resources, problem solving and mentorship. Therapists own and operate their own clinics, but belong to a supportive team of professionals, resulting in a balance of independence and team, supporting both the therapist and the clients.
Collaborative Approach was founded in 2018 by two Occupational Therapists, Alison Hendricks and Sue Wahl. With experience and passion for OT they set their focus on paediatrics and adult mental health. Their vision is to provide a space for therapists to feel supported which in turn provides better care to clients.
