One-on-One Therapy in Your Home
Our In-Home Occupational Therapy Treatment brings the expertise and individualized care of our skilled therapists directly to your home. Occupational Therapy in your own environment offers a natural and familiar setting where children feel safe and confident. This model allows us to address challenges as they arise in real time and context. In-home sessions are also a great solution for busy families. There’s no need to arrange childcare for siblings or deal with transportation, and parents can tend to household tasks while remaining involved in their child’s therapy process.
What to Expect From Our In-Home OT
Each session is 50 minutes long and focuses on addressing your child’s unique needs, supporting their development across several key areas that impact daily life. Whether it’s emotional regulation, fine or gross motor skills, or building independence in daily activities, our therapists work directly with your child to foster progress and confidence.
To ensure the best possible treatment environment, we ask that a parent or designated caregiver be on-site and that families help manage siblings and pets during in-home sessions. This will create a distraction-free area where therapy can take place effectively.
While the cost of a session is the same whether it is in-home or in-clinic, there are additional travel costs for in-home OT.

Key Areas We Focus On Through In-Home OT
Our in-home therapists provide a broad range of treatments created to meet your child’s goals. Common areas of focus include:

Gross Motor Skills
Activities that improve balance, coordination, strength, and body awareness, such as climbing, jumping, or walking in different environments. With the ability to practice in your home, backyard, or at the park, in-home OT allows children to improve skills in their natural environment.

Fine Motor Skills
Tasks like handwriting, buttoning, tying shoes, using utensils, or engaging in activities that build dexterity and hand strength. In addition to practicing these skills, in-home OT allows your therapist to make recommendations and suggestions about how to set up the environment for optimal success.

Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)
Promoting independence in tasks such as dressing, toileting, brushing teeth, feeding, and self-care routines, ensuring your child can thrive in everyday life. What better place to practice ADLs then in your own home!

Emotional Regulation
Helping children manage big emotions, cope with frustration, anxiety, or stress, and develop strategies for staying calm and focused. Offering in-home services means your OT can assess and suggest tools and strategies that work for your family setting.

Executive Functioning
Supporting children with organization, time management, completing tasks, focusing, and planning ahead (especially with homework and school-related tasks). By working in their actual learning environment your OT can ensure that suggestions are customized for your needs.
Why Choose In-Home Therapy?
When deciding if in-home occupational therapy is right for your child, it helps to understand the advantages of what your home environment can offer in supporting real-life skill development.
Real-Life Context
In-home therapy allows our therapists to focus on real-life scenarios that can make a big impact. Whether it’s practicing self-care skills in the bathroom, managing executive function (reminders & systems) in the actual environment, or walking safely in the neighbourhood, these sessions give your child practical skills they can use daily.
Carry-Over Advantage
In-home therapy allows us to provide carry-over strategies that are more practical and directly applicable to your child’s daily life. This helps children generalize the skills they learn in therapy to real-world situations more easily.
Convenience and Comfort
Our therapists travel to your home, meaning you don’t have to worry about scheduling trips to the clinic, parking, or long commutes. The therapy sessions take place in a familiar environment, which helps your child feel more comfortable and reduces stress, leading to better engagement.
Flexible Scheduling
With in-home therapy, many families find the scheduling easier as the whole family is not disrupted by coming into the clinic. This works well for your family’s busy calendar.
Tailored, Focused Attention
With the therapist working one-on-one with your child in your own home, the treatment is completely individualized and focused on your child’s and family’s specific needs.
